What's in a wallet?
Your wallet is your one-stop-shop to plan ahead, save, and pay for your care. You can build a budget to understand your expected health expenses for the year, open a savings account to save toward your budget, and pay for all of your care directly from the wallet. Using Rhythm™, you can set your bills to pay automatically each month, within your budget.
Questions?
We’ve got answers.
Healthcare costs can be hard to predict, and unexpected bills can make it harder to get the care you need. The Financial Health Wallet™ is a set of tools that helps you plan ahead, save toward, and pay for care, so you can worry less about affording care and focus on what matters most—getting and staying healthy.
The wallet helps you anticipate your yearly healthcare spending, regularly save ahead of any bills, and pay with flexibility, predictability, and convenience when the bill comes through. The three core components of the wallet are:

-
Plan what to set aside for healthcare each year with built-in budgeting tools
-
Save for care directly in the wallet, with a Health Savings Account (HSA)*
-
Pay your way by personalizing your payment preferences or enrolling in the wallet’s budget billing program, Rhythm™.* See all your bills in one place, clarify billing details, and send digital payments for bills or copays live in the office in minutes, directly from the wallet.
*Pending eligibility
-
The wallet is available to everyone but some features are only able to support specific insurance coverages at this time.

-
Planning: Creating a Healthcare Budget is limited to patients with health insurance through an employer or through the Health Insurance Marketplace. We’re working to support more types of coverage, including people who pay for their own care without insurance. Anyone can request and receive estimates for care.
-
Saving: Anyone who is on a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) that meets federal requirements can open a Health Savings Account (HSA) and save for care.
-
Payments: Anyone can set their payment preferences, receive bills directly in their wallet, enroll in the wallet’s budget billing plan Rhythm™*, and pay for care in the office directly from the wallet.
*Pending eligibility

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a triple-tax-advantaged account that helps patients save and pay for qualified healthcare expenses. Contributions to the account are tax-deductible, money in the account grows tax-free over time, and paying for eligible medical expenses with the account are tax-free.
Yes, you can order an HSA card directly from your wallet; you can add it to your Apple or Google wallet, or order a physical card.
Your Healthcare Budget helps you anticipate how much you’ll spend on care each year. That includes all spending that’s out of your own pocket—like deductibles, copays and coinsurance. The budget doesn’t take into account the premiums you pay your insurance company.
You can build a general budget for the year or a specific one, centered around a condition you’re managing or procedure you’re anticipating.
To estimate your costs, the budget looks at 3 key influences on your spending:

-
Insurance Coverage: this sets an upper limit on your spending and resets each year.
-
Health Usage: this calibrates the type and amount of care you might seek out and the associated costs of that care, considering your insurance coverage.
-
Financial Personality: how you feel about money and how you like to plan for care affects how prepared you prefer to be ahead of your bills.

After you complete the intake questionnaire, you’ll get a realistic spending range for the year and have the opportunity to start setting money aside toward your budget directly in the wallet.
-
Rhythm™ is the wallet’s intelligent, automated payment plan tool. Once set up, you’ll simply choose an amount and date for your payment each month. When you have bills to pay from BILH, your Rhythm™ will strive to pay down all of your outstanding bills at or under the monthly amount you set, within BILH’s payment policies. When you don’t have bills, no payments will be made.
If you’re eligible for an HSA, you can open and fund it directly in the wallet. You can also securely link a bank account, credit, or debit card.
You can pay for bills automatically using Rhythm™, or pay each bill individually using the funding method of your choice, directly from the wallet.
Yes! However, only BILH bills will come into the wallet and be eligible for cost-smoothing based on BILH’s payment policies.
No, opening the wallet is completely free!
No. The wallet is designed to give you additional tools for planning, saving, and paying for care. Your patient portal (e.g. MyChart) still holds your billing statements, receipts, and additional financial details.
